It is the wise parent who steers their kid toward a community college for the first couple of years.

Why? Because of finances!

Kids change majors, don’t have a specific degree that they are after, or don’t have the money for university. Get two years at a community college to get the basics out of the way.

The exception would be if your student has a clear goal like the medical field or law, and they already show the focus and aptitude to be successful in this pursuit. Getting into a good college or university from the start is important for this student.
