Do you look at your kid sometimes and wonder how they could ever be related to you? After all, their values are way different than yours, so what do you do? This is the topic that Dr. Leman answers on this episode.

Nidia and Angie:

I see that my kids do not love God. I would like for them to experience a relationship with God, not a religion; and protect them from wandering away from God.

There is no guarantee.

There is nothing you can do to make sure that your kids share your values.

As a matter of fact, the harder you try, the more you ram it down their throats, the more they will tend to reject your values.

In our zest, we turn them off.

The good news is that you can model for them in a way that will be attractive.
Ask yourself, “What is my ideal self like?”
Then ask, “What is my REAL self like?”

The less dissonance (the closer) between these two “selfs”, the more of an open book you are to your kids. They will know that your values are true and trustworthy.

One thing I say very often is this: it is all about relationships.

Dr. Leman’s NEW book, “A Powerful Secret” is now out! It is the second in a trilogy and you don’t want to miss it!
